Since our founding candymaker Mary See and her business-savvy son Charles opened the first See’s Candies shop in 1921, we’ve crafted irresistibly delicious milk chocolates. But the history of milk chocolate doesn’t start with us! It took Swiss chocolatier Daniel Peter eight years to invent the perfect recipe for milk chocolate. In 1875, he finally landed it by adding powdered milk into the mix, and the rest was history. (Thank goodness he never gave up.)
